💕🌎📚World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13th📚🌎💕
World Kindness Day, celebrated annually on November 13, serves as a reminder of the power of kindness in creating a more compassionate and empathetic world. It encourages individuals to perform acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, and to promote a culture of caring in their communities. For educators, World Kindness Day is an excellent opportunity to introduce students to stories that highlight the importance of kindness, empathy, and understanding.
Reading and discussing kindness-themed stories and picture books with students is a powerful way to model these values. Through storytelling, children can connect emotionally with characters who demonstrate compassion, generosity, and respect for others. These stories offer opportunities for meaningful discussions about feelings, the impact of kind actions, and how kindness can make a difference in their own lives and communities. By exploring these themes in an engaging and accessible way, educators help foster a culture of kindness that students can carry with them throughout their lives.
To support teachers in fostering a culture of kindness, a set of slides has been created that includes a collection of read-aloud stories focused on kindness and empathy. These slides are designed to be an easy-to-use resource for educators, offering book recommendations that encourage students to reflect on the theme of kindness. Each book featured in the slides highlights different aspects of kindness, from showing compassion to standing up for others, helping students understand how small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
This Google slide deck includes 8 different virtual stories and uses embedded videos. This slide deck also includes a linked image in the bottom corner to return to the menu slide. It is best used in Present mode with the teacher sharing their screen. Another option is to go to File > Publish to Web and use that link. As always, teachers should preview the stories before using them to determine what best fits the needs of their class. I hope that these kindness stories are enjoyed by you and your students.
These Kindness Stories slides act as a starting point for classroom teachers to have conversations beyond the read-aloud. This resource makes it simple for teachers to engage students in meaningful conversations about kindness while reinforcing these important values throughout the school year. These stories can be used in conjunction with my Kindness Jar activity and kindness challenges that can be incorporated into daily lessons. *NOTE: If the link says you need to request access, it is your school network blocking the share. All items are set correctly to force a copy when clicked on. Many districts block things (including file shares) that are coming from outside of their domain. Please try making the copy from a personal email or Gmail account. Then, you can share the file with your school account. If you request access, I won't be able to grant it or respond to your email request, since the issue is blocked on your end.
